Long day

So the surgery went well. It only took one hour, half of which was trying to get an iv in him. We counted 9-yes 9 attempts for an iv. Poor little man. When they let me go back and see him he was really sad. He cried and was very uncomfortable for the next 7 hours. He cried and would only take little cat naps for 5-10 minutes. At about 9 oclock he had a really good throw up and he has felt better ever since. He is sleeping really well right now, so hopefully he will be able to get some rest and not need as much pain medicine. They are only going to send us home on tylenol so I hope that will be enough. Tomorrow we are going to start feeding him in the tube. They are going to start with 2 ounces wait 2 hours, then try 3 ounces wait 3 hours, and then do it again. I was under the assumption that we were going home in the early morning. Um no, I guess that is what I get for assuming. Thank you for all of the prayers and well wishes.

Hilary,
So glad to hear the surgery is behind you--time to press forward to better days, right?! I will pray that his feedings go well and that he becomes an amazingly chunky little monkey. :)

We're all relieved to hear the surgery went smoothly, sorry Daxton got poked a bunch. He's a strong little guy. Here's hoping he'll really grow now! I hafta' quote Mady. She jumped in the car on Friday & said, "Yep, tonight me and Ellie are gonna sleep over at Nana Julie's. We packed a big bag and I mean BIG! It's big enough to go to Disneyland, or South Vegas, or Park City. We're gonna' stay up late too!" She's got some awesome grandmas. Your cute girl really brightens my day.
We love You all. Let us know if we can help with anything.

He did settle down whenever he saw me. I think he recognizes calmness, security, and overwhelming love in a single being (besides his parents of course). One look at me and he clamed right down. Yes ladies... I am available and a favorite of the Cook's.

Angie,
So glad that the surgery went well. Alex may have to have it done come April or so. He just isn't eating enough and gaining weight fast enough. We are hoping that that will change before April. Take care. I miss seeing you at clinic as Alex has gone to once a month, Kirk and Jess have moved from my home to SLC and I no longer go to clinic with them. He is doing very well and we love having him in our family. Don't know what it would have been like to not have him here. What a blessing. He is now 10 months old.
With love,

Hilary,
I'm glad things went well. I prayed for you ALL weekend! Nine pokes is a lot! I'm sure that Elaina is going to have similar issues when they do her Nissen and G-tube on Feb 2nd. I'm glad that this hurdle is over for you and pray that you're home safe and sound with your kiddos! I sure miss you and I think the saddest thing about having to back for another surgery is knowing that I won't be there with my favorite heart mommies!
Love you!!
Hollie, Ben and Elaina
